Missing Quilts

Sadly, there are some quilts from this swap that don't yet seem to have reached their new homes.  I am still hoping to hear that 5 quilts make it to their owners - one of these recipients lives in South America, and I've had other instances of slow post in South American countries, so I am hopeful that one will turn up, but the other missing ones, I'm more worried about. I know we had Christmas in there, but many of these pieces were mailed well before the Christmas rush.  One of the 5 "missing" quilts, I admit I haven't heard from the recipient whether it was received or not, despite several emails, so perhaps it isn't missing. In one case, the maker has very kindly offered to make and resend a similar quilt (she has made or partly made several similar ones, so this isn't too demanding on her time to offer). In general, though, what do people think is the best option for making sure people end up with a quilt?  Just soliciting some opinions here before I get down to the nitty gritty of actually sorting something out!

Maybe it would be a good idea to send the quilts by registered mail in the future?
Also, as I haven't heard from the recipient of my quilt, I'm wondering if it might be one of the missing quilts?

Oh gosh...I don't know what the best way to handle that problem would be. I would be willing to remake and resend one but I know it would not be identical to the first one. That is tough. I will be interested to read what others would do.

I think I would just like to resend mine is one of the quilts that is missing and I sent it before our Thanksgiving holiday. When sending mail out of the USA it is hard to trace the mail.

I think sending registered post is a good option and one I always take as I can keep a track of the quilt...of course, it doesn't mean that they still might not go astray....and if it was my quilt, which had gone astray, I would of course be happy to send another..

I did send my quilt registered and still it ended up as one of the missing ones. So that is not always the solution.
