This quilt is made up of the materials from my erosion bundle. I love the earthiness or organicness (if there is such a word.) The main fabric is cotton with 2 colours of organza and the hessian and ribbon. All these were in the erosion bundle along with the lace. I have also used rusted bottle top and agate beads.

Dark Night

I used a bought handdyed piece of fabric for this. Inspiration came from trees in the twilight. Free motion quilted. I used raw edge applique as a technique.

Pebbles

I used raw silk, commercial batik and handdyed fabric for it and free motion quilting. Inspiration was a picture I had taken of gravel and pebbles on a street. Uses raw-edge applique.

I now have pictures in from half a dozen or so people and I will begin uploading them here in the next few days - perhaps even some today, depends on how busy I am and how much I have to compete with my kids for use of the computer!

I know it seemed far away when I posted the new swap in October, but the deadline is now just over a month away. I do have a few photos in, so if your piece is finished, feel free to send photos as per the guideline - I will post some when I have a few more.

Round 5!

Well, I did say I'd open a new round in October, and it looks like I'm sneaking in by the skin of my teeth... This round will be a little different in that we are going to do journal-quilt-sized quilts (i.e. the size of a piece of copier paper). They do not have to be journal quilts per se - you can make the style or subject anything you feel like - but I wanted to try something that size and see what happened. If you are interested, please read the rules thoroughly - they are in a tab across the top. And let me know if there are any questions! I hope to see lots of you from previous rounds join in - and some new faces as well, of course.

If journal-quilt-sized work is a little small for you, don't worry, I plan to return to the somewhat larger size we've been working with in the past for the next round. Which will be in the spring some time.
