Grand Reveal

Right - sorry to take so long to do this, but with one thing and another, it's been busy. Anyway, I'm sure you are all keen to see who made which quilt and who got what, so here we go...

Quilt no 1, Christo's Gates in Spring was made by Wil in the Netherlands, and went to live with Virginia in Brazil.

Virginia made quilt no 29, Carpe Diem, whicih went to Margaret J in Australia.

Margaret's quilt, no 24, Woodland Night, went to Marei in the US.

The quilt that Marei made, which was no 32: Feeling Blue, went to Margaret G, in the UK.

Margaret G's quilt, Cornish Cottages (no 23) - which was the most requested quilt in this round of the swap - ended up with Joan E.

Joan (who is also in the UK) made quilt no 28, which ended up with Sarah (again in the UK - lots of UK quilts this time around).

Sarah made two quilts for this round of the swap. The first of these, no 7: Hexie's Rock, went to live with Vreni in Switzerland.

Vreni's quilt was no 19: A Blackbird's Delight. She sent it to Barbara C in Northern Ireland.

Barbara also made two different quilts for this round of the swap. Here is the first, no 8: Dancing in the Rain, which went off to Barbara S in the US.

The quilt which Barbara S made - no 2 "Endless Pawsibilities" - went to live with Lyndsey in the UK.

Lyndsey's quilt was called A Cat's Stairway to Heaven (no 35), and she sent it to Justine in the US.

Justine's quilt, no 9: Beloved Butterfly, flew off to Lise in Norway,

while Lise's quilt (no 6, The Silk Road) went to Di in the US.

The quilt which Di made - no 3, Journeying - went to Mary J in the UK

and Mary's quilt Bats at Twilight (no 18) flew off to Wil in the Netherlands. Which brings this little loop of revelations to a close.

Penny in Australia, a long-time player in my swaps, made this little quilt (no 4), which went to live with Sheila in the UK.

Sheila's quilt, no 17: Raven, stayed in the UK with Rosie

who made this piece - no 11 - which ended up flying off to Kathleen in the US.

Kathleen was another of the players who made two quilt this time around, and the first of hers, no 14: Pretty in Pink, went to live with Sabine in Germany.

Sabine made the quilt Chicken House (no 12), which came to live with Jayne in the UK.

The quilt which Jayne made - no 26: "My Favourite Thing" - stayed in the UK with Pam,

and Pam's quilt Cottage on the Square (no 21) went flying off to Australia to live with Penny. And that brings another section of the reveal to a close.

Ramona in the US, who has played in all (I think) of my swaps, this time around made quilt no 5, Blue Windows, which was chosen by Barbara C in Northern Ireland.

The second of Barbara's quilts, no 13: Summer Days, went off to live with Mary S in the US.

Mary also made two quilts for the swap, one of which - no 16 Shape Up - she ended up keeping; the other, Autumn Chickadee (no 15) found a new home with Kjersti in Norway.

The quilt which Kjersti made - no 30, Blue Rose - went off to California to live with Julie.

Julie was another person to make two quilts for the swap and her first one, When Pigs Fly (no 20) went to Tish, also in the US.

Tish - also the maker of two quilts for this swap - made quilt no 38 (untitled), which ended up with Melody, in the US.

Melody made quilt no 10 (untitled), which was chosen by Joan P in the UK,

while Joan's quilt went to Sarah (also UK). That quilt was called New Life From Decay (no 27).

Sarah's quilt - her second in the swap - was no 31, Little Bird - and that went to Ramona. Which ties up that strand nicely.

Not far to go now!

Julie's second quilt, Wildflowers (no 22) went to Andrea in Australia (who just happens to be Julie's sister - but Andrea didn't know who had made the quilt when she put it on her list).

Andrea's quilt Transit of Mercury (Not to Scale) (no 36) came across to the UK to live with me (and very lovely it is - quilts always look better in person - I'd love to see all these in the flesh, so to speak!)

while my own quilt, Squaring the Circle (no 25), went back to California to live with Julie.  Julie and I have been friends for many years and I actually have one of her quilts from a swap long ago, but this is  the first one she has of mine, so that's fun.

And finally, we have two straight swaps (not that they knew it at the time, mind you) -

Quilt no 33, All my Hearts are Rainbows, made by Sue in the US, went to Marie,

while Marie's untitled quilt, no 34, went to Sue.

And Tish's second quilt, no 37, went to Kathleen

while Kathleen's second quilt, no 39: Friendship Flower, went to Tish.

And that, ladies (and gentlemen - though we didn't have any playing this time around), is that. ALQS10, revealed in all its glory. Tune in again in 2017 for another round - I hope you can play along!

Grand Reveal!

OK, finally, time for that Grand Reveal, where you can see who made what and who received what. As usual, I will start with Quilt no 1:

Around Town (no 1) was made by Diana and sent along to Sarah, who had made this piece, no 4:

Sarah's quilt went to live with Virginia, who had made no 23 (Happy Tree):

Happy Tree (which was one of the most popular choices this time around), in turn, went to stay with Melanie, who had made 2 quilts for the swap.

The first of these, Fancy Cat (no 9, above) went off to its new home with Kathleen.

Kathleen made quilt no 3, which she called Special K, after the Kellogg's Cornflakes Rooster:

And Special K went off to Norway to live with Kjersti.

Kjersti's quilt, no 33 (above) was chosen by Andrea in Australia, and this quilt:

Andrea's untitled piece (no 32) went to Mary J.

Mary J made two pieces this year, and the first one, The Early Blackbird (no 19) came to live at my house:

The piece that I made, Circles in Circles is shown below:

Circles in Circles (no 21) went to live with Joan E, who had made this piece:

also with a circle theme - Friendly Circles (no 30).   This quilt was a very popular choice, and appeared on many lists, but in the end, Friendly circles went to live with Mary S.

Carrying on (totally accidentally) with the circle theme, Mary's quilt was called Loose Marbles (no 24) and went to live with Margaret G in the UK.

Margaret's quilt was called Autumn Meadow (no 22) and was another one of the most popular choices in the swap. It went to live with Marei, who had made quilt no 25: Triangulation.

Triangulation was the other quilt received by Melanie, who had made two quilts for the swap - Fancy Cat back near the top of this post and also no 11, Citrus and Sea (below).

One of the things I really enjoy about this swap is seeing how different the little quilts are - sometimes even two quilts by the same maker are totally different in style, like Melanie's two. Great fun!

Anyway, Citrus and Sea went to live with Barbara F, who produced this piece (no 5):

This colourful pinwheel quilt went off to Mary Jane, and Mary Jane's piece Fireworks (no 17, below) went to live with Barbara S.

The piece that Barbara S made was called Stitching for Spring (no 12) and travelled off to Australia to be with Margaret J.

Margaret has played in quite a few rounds of my swap, and always produces something nice. This time, her quilt was called Cherry Pie (no 15).

Cherry Pie winged its way from Australia to Beth in the US, who made this quilt:

No 31, Wonderfully Wonky. Wonky happily hopped its way to Pam G, who made Dandelion Summer (no 7, below) for Julie.

Julie was another player who made two quilts this round and her first one, Way Out (no 8) travelled to England to go to Lynda. Here it is:

Amusingly, Lynda's quilt Fragments (no 27) went back to the US to Julie!

Julie's second quilt (no 13), Dawn (pictured below) went to Mary J. This was another of the most popular pieces (a joint first with Happy Tree, but ahead by a very few choices)...

while Mary's quilt (no 20, Happy Hearts) - her second in the swap - went off to Barbara C.

(Not many left to go; deep breath!)

Barbara made this quilt:

Fun and Games (no 6), which was chosen by Marie. Marie made Stars Galore (no 26):

which went to live with Ramona, who is one of only three people (myself included) who have played in every single round of ALQS! (The other is Lynda, who made Fragments, mentioned a bit above.)

For this round, Ramona made the quilt Intersections (no 2):

Intersections was chosen by Rosie in the UK, who made the quilt Random Tweets (no 28), pictured below:

This quilt ended up travelling to Australia to be with Lisa, who made quilt no 29:

No 29 was the last quilt to be known to be safely home (the recipient being away for quite some time), and has its new home with Hilde, in the Netherlands.

Hilde's quilt was no 10, Iris:

and went to Di, which brings the loop to a close!

Three other little quilts ended up, for various reasons, staying with their makers:

Pam A's untitled piece (no 14)

Narelle's Christmas Wishes (no 16)

And finally Joan P's Take Heart (no 18).

A HUGE thank you again to everyone who took part - hope I'll see you all back here next time when we'll be making (probably) small, square quilts...  Be on the lookout!
